US Central Command has officially announced the lifting of the naval blockade on Iran, in line with direct instructions from President Donald Trump following the signing of the latest memorandum of understanding in the region.

CENTCOM said its naval and air forces deployed in the region are no longer obstructing or restricting the passage of commercial ships and tankers to and from Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf.

The move marks a major field step towards implementing the terms of the temporary agreement and easing restrictions on maritime movement linked to Iran.

CENTCOM, however, stressed that lifting the blockade does not mean a full US withdrawal from the region.

It said US naval vessels and military assets would remain in regional waters and strategic positions during the coming period to monitor developments and ensure that all parties fully comply with the security understandings included in the memorandum of understanding.

The announcement comes amid growing signs of relief in energy markets and international shipping, particularly after reports of record oil transit rates through the Strait of Hormuz in recent hours.

The decision is expected to reduce pressure on commercial shipping routes and support greater stability in global energy flows, especially as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important passages for oil exports.
