On Sunday, US Ambassador to Cairo Herro Mustafa Garg participated in the closing day of the 2024 She Arts Festival that targets to give women in various fields of arts more a space for self-expression and empowerment. The closing day witnessed a performance of US singer and songwriter Julie Odell, and the Egyptian artist Youssra El Hawary who shared the stage together for a real fusion experience to prove how can music help in bridging between cultures.
Before the performance, US ambassador said that She Arts program is supported by the US Embassy in Cairo since 2022. She also expressed that she is very excited because an American artist participate in the festival for the first time.
Mustafa Garg praised the talented Odell whose music reflects her culture, and energy. She also praised the talent of El Hawary who previously participated in one of the US-backed programs in Egypt called Center Stage.
The US ambassador asserted the US Embassy's support for all female talents in Egypt, and how their musical talents could bridge between cultures, and communities.
On her side, the Spokesperson of the US Embassy in Cairo Gina Cabrera said that US always supports women, especially in arts. That's why, there are several programs and channels to empower women's talents like NVAK, Center Stage, and cultural exchange programs.
She added that US always believes in arts power to create a common ground between cultures, in addition, listening to the voices of women will help in empowering them economically, and socially which is could be part from the cooperation between Egypt and US in Egypt's 2030 Vision.
US gives the highest priority to women in exchange programs, and initiatives. Women in several regions in Egypt received the opportunity to be empowered, supported like supporting women in North Sinai to earn living from their handcrafts, women in Minia whom received the chance to start their own businesses, establishing a cooperation with Azza Fahmy Foundation in historic Cairo to train women on jewellery making and handcrafts, continuing that these joint cooperation all over Egypt and for more 30 years helped a lot of women who exchanged their skills, and experiences to younger generations.
Furthermore, Cabrera hailed the mutual music cooperation and ties between Egypt and US, asserting that music, and arts shed light on a unified humanitarian experience.
