On Sunday, the US Embassy in Cairo hosted a warm gathering to celebrate the students who gained the highest grades in the Egyptian high school system (Al Thanawiya Al Aamma) for 2024/2025.
The US ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg welcomed the students and their families to recognize their achievements and successes.
The event also witnessed the participation of former Foreign Minister Mohamed El Orabi, who is known for his established diplomatic career.
In her speech, the US ambassador congratulated the students and their families, in addition to hailing the importance of education to strengthen the bridges between the US and Egypt. She said, “Egypt’s youth are the innovators and leaders who will shape the nation’s future. The United States is proud to partner with Egypt in advancing education and building opportunities that strengthen the bonds between our two countries.”
She also thanked Ambassador El Orabi for raising the idea of honoring the top high school students by the US Embassy in Cairo.
On his side, Ambassador El Orabi thanked the US Ambassador for her efforts and vital role since she arrived in Cairo.
He also noted that the main target of this event is to deepen the relationship between the US Embassy and students.
During the evening, Ambassador Mustafa Garg announced that the US Embassy will provide a year-long training program for students, which would be valued at over $50,000.
This new initiative will provide English language classes and training to qualify them for the market, and to start careers at the US companies in Egypt.
Therefore, representatives from US companies, including Apache, IBM, and GM, participated in the event and chatted with several students.
This year’s Thanawaya Amma recognition event is in its second year, reflecting the United States’ robust and continuing commitment to support Egyptian students in pursuing their educational and professional aspirations.
