On Friday, the US Treasury Department announced the imposing of a new package of sanctions on Iran.

The new sanctions include  4 inpiduals and two institutions, including two people linked to Tehran's Revolutionary Guards, for their involvement in the deployment of attack drones in an area in Ethiopia.

The department said in a statement on its website that its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has identified members of a network of companies and inpiduals who have provided critical support to the drone programs of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its Quds Force.

"OFAC" also designated Saeed Aghajani, the commander of the Drone Command of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Aerospace and Space Force.

The statement stated that the Quds Force had used and deployed deadly drones by Iranian-backed groups, including Hezbollah, Hamas, Kata'ib Hezbollah, the Houthis, and even in Ethiopia, where the escalating crisis threatens to destabilize the broader region.

The ministry indicated that these deadly drones were used in attacks on international shipping and the forces of the United States of America (USA).

Deputy Treasury Secretary Wali Adeemo confirmed that the department will continue to hold Iran responsible for its "violent and irresponsible actions," according to the statement.

Adeemo said that Iran's deployment of drones in the region threatens international peace and stability.

He added that Iran and its proxy fighters have used drones to attack US forces, our partners, and international shipping.
