"Until Dawn" Film Adaptation Wraps Production

Production has wrapped on the film adaptation of the PlayStation horror video game “Until Dawn” by Screen Gems and PlayStation Productions.

David F. Sandberg, known for “Annabelle: Creation,” “Shazam!” and “Lights Out”, is directing the pic from a script by “It: Chapter Two” and “The Nun” screenwriter Gary Dauberman.

Dauberman wrote the script from the most recent pass on a screenplay from “The Invitation” writer Blair Butler. 

The beloved genre director took to his official Instagram page to share the news.

“We made it until dawn! That's a wrap on #untildawnmovie," he captioned.

Sandberg shared when filming began back in August, but this time the background is covered in blood.

While the pic won't be following the game’s narrative-driven scarefest, but it is said to be an “R-rated and terrifying love letter to the horror genre.”

The PlayStation video game starred Rami Malek and Hayden Panettiere in motion-capture versions and centered on eight friends trapped together on a remote mountain retreat — only to discover they are not alone. They navigate dread and fear to make it through the night in one piece. 

The “Butterfly Effect” system and the game's endless branching paths made "Until Dawn" an instant modern classic when it was released on the PS4 in 2015. It also made the game highly replayable. 

Although this is a new story, Peter Stormare is reprising his role as psychologist Dr. Hill from the game, the creepy doctor connected each chapter of the game by asking the players various questions that tapped into our worst fears. 

The unsettling doctor was something that made the game more personal. 

Stormare will be joined by a fresh ensemble which includes Ella Rubin, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Odessa A’zion, Maia Mitchell, and Belmont Camell.

Under his first look deal with Screen Gems and Sony, Dauberman is producing through his Coin Operated banner with Sandberg and Lotta Losten via Mångata, Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan of PlayStation Productions.

Ashley Brucks and Michael Bitar oversee for the studio. Dan Primozic of Screen Gems closed the rights and helmed the deal for this package.

"Until Dawn" doesn't have a release date yet. However, given that filming has ended.
