In collaboration with UNHCR, the French Institute of Egypt organized a 2-day series of events "Ici le Soudan" to show support to Sudanese artists and refugees who had been forced to leave their homes to seek safety in Egypt.
The two-day event, taking place on 10 and 11 July from 6 to 10 pm, featured an exhibition of Sudanese visual art, round-table discussions, short film screenings, book discussions, and a major concert featuring more than 25 artists.
The visual materials displayed at the exhibition were taken by migrant photographers who got to tell their stories through the lenses of their cameras, according to organizers.
The idea behind "Ici le Soudan" is to give space for Sudanese refugees to share their voices with the local community and allow those who have gathered to enjoy some popular Sudanese music during the two days.
