The UN Country Team in Egypt held a meeting with national and development partners to strategize the collective interventions to address the climate change crises and effectively engage for the success of COP27 in Egypt.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova also held a symposium on reducing carbon dioxide emissions and supporting capacity-building and sustainable development; SDGs stakeholders invited to take part in a serious discussion of these topics.
In a statement released by UN Egypt, it said: “The meeting saw an interesting and fruitful discussion with Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldine, UN Special Envoy on Financing the 2030 Agenda, and H.E Ambassador Mohamed Nasr, Director of Environment and Sustainable Development Department, about the state and non-states actors’ priorities for Egypt’s Cop27 Presidency."
"It stressed the importance of showcasing successful solutions to collectively address the climate change issue," the statement added.
Last week, Egypt's government in collaboration with UN Egypt launched the second round of consultative meetings with other key stakeholders from the private sector, civil society, development partners, think tanks, and academia.
The consultative meetings aim to put forward a common agenda that provides a powerful vision for a more secure, inclusive, and prosperous future, according to a joint statement released by Egypt's government and UN.
