Ukraine's Chargé d'Affaires in Egypt, Ruslan Nechai thanked the Egyptian government, especially the Foreign Ministry, for extending the stay of Ukrainian tourists for free when he submitted a memorandum requesting hosting Ukrainian tourists until their return to the country is arranged.

In a press conference in Cairo, Nechai added that he submitted a request to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to organize return trips through the borders of neighboring countries in the West, such as Poland and Romania. He stressed that the Ukrainian tourists want to return to their families, and that there are some young people who want to join the resistance.

Ukraine's Chargé d'Affairs said that Egypt imports about 3.3 million tons of Ukrainian wheat and about 2.2 million tons of corn, in addition to sunflower oil.

He indicated that all this trade is carried out through the Black Sea, which has stopped navigation due to the war. He added that the embassy also submitted to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry a request for humanitarian and medical assistance to the Ukrainian people, which included a list of Ukraine's humanitarian needs.

Nechai stressed that he understands the level of Egyptian-Russian relations and the independence of decision-making in the selection of bilateral relations. He noted that Russian isolation will occur due to international sanctions by the international community, and therefore it will be impossible for Russian cooperation in the future.

He pointed out that major economic sanctions will be imposed on Russia, which will affect joint projects with Egypt, such as the El Dabaa project or the free zone in the Suez Canal.

Nechai said: "The policy of neutrality and non-declaration of solidarity with the Ukrainian side, when the war ends, will have an impact on the levels of trade exchange and political exchange.

He talked about a memorandum sent to the Arab League in Cairo to clarify its position on Russian military operations on Ukrainian territory.

Nechai expressed his country's disappointment with the positions of the partners in Europe, especially that there is a reluctance to support his country because of Russia's use of gas as a means of pressure.

He stressed that what happened in Ukraine is a real war against it and against the principles of democratic values.
