UK Wildfires Spread as Heatwave Intensifies

Wildfires have broken out at 19 locations across England and Wales as an intense heatwave continues to grip the UK, prompting fresh public health warnings.

The UK Health Security Agency has issued yellow heat alerts for seven regions of England from Tuesday to Friday, while the Met Office forecasts temperatures to peak at 33°C in parts of south-central England.

According to the National Fire Chiefs Council, emergency services are tackling 19 active wildfires, including large grassland and agricultural fires.

The council warned that a severe wildfire risk remains across large parts of England and Wales, with some areas facing an extreme threat as hot, dry conditions persist.
