Paris Saint-Germain have reached a verbal agreement to sign Lucas Digne from Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The French champions have already informed Aston Villa that they will activate the left-back's release clause, valued at less than €10 million, once the FIFA World Cup concludes.

Romano added that Digne has accepted the move despite knowing he will serve as Nuno Mendes' backup at the Parc des Princes.

The 32-year-old joined Aston Villa from Everton in January 2022 for €30 million and remains under contract with the Premier League club until the summer of 2028.

During his spell at Villa Park, Digne made 182 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and providing 24 assists. He also helped the club lift the UEFA Europa League title.

The move strengthens PSG's defensive depth ahead of the new season, with the club adding an experienced international option to compete alongside first-choice left-back Nuno Mendes.
