The United Kingdom has deployed a search and rescue team to Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes killed nearly 1,000 people earlier this week.
The 68-member team, comprising firefighters from across Britain, six specialist search dogs and humanitarian personnel, departed from RAF Brize Norton on Friday to support emergency operations.
The twin earthquakes, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck Venezuela on Wednesday and were among the strongest to hit the country in more than a century.
Venezuelan authorities said at least 920 people have died and 3,360 others have been injured, with the death toll expected to rise as rescue efforts continue.
