Tanzania suffered a widespread power outage on Saturday after a technical fault disrupted the national electricity grid, causing major transport disruptions across the country.
The blackout affected most regions connected to the national network and brought transportation services to a halt, including operations on Tanzania's electric Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
State-owned utility Tanesco said technical teams, working alongside railway specialists and other agencies, had launched emergency repairs to restore electricity supplies as quickly as possible.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the malfunction or provided a timeline for the full restoration of power.
