Egyptian actor Ahmed Mekky's new TV series “Ain Shams” will consist of 15 episodes.

The drama hails from director Ahmed Saleh and is set to screen during the Ramadan 2025 drama marathon.

It reunites Mekky with scriptwriter Hani Sarhan. They worked together for the first time on season 2 of the critically acclaimed TV series “El Ekhteyar ll” (The Choice 2) in 2021.

"Ain Shams" is produced by Synergy production company and witnesses Mekky stepping away from the comedy hit TV series “Al-Kabir Awy”.

Season 8 of “Al-Kabir Awy” premiered last Ramadan and featured the return of cast members such as Mekky, Rahma Ahmed, Bayoumi Fouad, Hisham Ismail, Mohamed Salam, Samaa Ibrahem, Hussein Hagag, and Hatem Salah.

It also features several A-listers making a cameo including Amina Khalil. Ahmed El-Gendy is directing the series from a script by Mustafa Saqr and Mohamed Ezzeldin.

The series is produced by the Synergy production company and debuted during the Ramadan 2024 drama marathon.

“Al-Kabir Awy” made its debut in 2010. It revolves around the Mayor of the Mazarita village, in upper Egypt, who discovers he has other siblings.

The series achieved great success and became one of the best comedy series screened annually during Ramadan. It was renewed in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2022, and 2023.

Mekky was born on June 19, 1980, in Algeria to an Algerian father and an Egyptian mother but grew up in Egypt.

He began his career in showbiz as a short film director after graduating from the Institute of Cinema, such as “Yabanee Asly” (An Original Japanese) before directing in 2005 film “Al Hassa Al Sab’a” (The Seventh Sense), co-starring Ahmed Al Fishawy, which was adapted from a short film that Mekky had previously directed in 2003.

The 43-year-old star had also collaborated with his sister Inas Mekky in directing several television productions, including “Lahazat Harija” (Crucial Moments), and “Tamer wa Shawqiyah” (Tamer and Shawqiyah), in which he also played the role of Haitham Dabour.Ahmed Mekky
