As part of the final preparations for the highly anticipated opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum on November 1st, the Tutankhamun Hall at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir will be closed starting October 20th. The closure comes as the last artifacts of the golden pharaoh are transferred to the new museum, where his entire collection will be displayed together for the first time in a dedicated gallery.

Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, confirmed that the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir will continue to welcome visitors during regular opening hours, with the closure applying only to the Tutankhamun Hall. He emphasized that showcasing the complete Tutankhamun collection—more than 5,000 artifacts—in one space at the Grand Egyptian Museum represents an unprecedented milestone in the history of archaeology and museology, offering visitors from around the world a comprehensive view of the young king’s treasures.

It is also noteworthy that the Grand Egyptian Museum will close to all visitors starting October 15th to allow final logistical and organizational preparations for the official opening. Public visits will commence on November 4th, coinciding with the 103rd anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb.
