Turkish TV series "Aşk-ı Memnu" (Forbidden Love) is being adapted into a film.
"Aşk-ı Memnu" starred Beren Saat as Bihter Yöreoglu, Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ as Behlül Haznedar, Selçuk Yöntem as Adnan Ziyagil, Hazal Kaya as Nihal Ziyagil, Nebahat Çehre as Firdevs Yöreoglu, Zerrin Tekindor as Deniz Decourton, Nur Fettahoglu as Peyker Yöreoglu, Ilker Kizmaz as Nihat Önal, and others.
The drama premiered on August 4, 2008, and concluded on June 24, 2010. It is an adaptation of Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil's 1899 novel of the same title.
The series is set in contemporary Istanbul instead of the novel's original period in the late 19th century.
"Aşk-ı Memnu" revolved around Adnan a reputable, wealthy businessman whose wife passed away eleven years before.
He has withdrawn from the outside world after his wife's passing and concentrates on raising his two young children and devoting his life entirely to their care, as well as bringing up his nephew Behlul who lost his family in a car accident several years before.
Eleven years later, Adnan finally meets a beautiful woman whom he hopes can reignite the flame in his heart but he soon learns that love has its destiny.
The upcoming film is titled "Bihtar" and features Turkish actress Farah Zeynep Abdullah playing the titular character, originally played by Beren Saat.
Meanwhile, Boran Kuzum is in talks to play the role of Behlül/Muhannad and Hande Ataizi is nominated for Fayrouz Khanum, Helin Kandemir portrays Nihal, and Ebru Özkan stars as Deniz Decourton.
