Turkey announced on Friday, that it fined Google $26 million after ruling it was abusing its market dominance. The statement reported that the company violated the terms of fair competition due to unfair access to the advertisement space.

On other hand, the Turkish authorities reported that the firm would have to ensure “active competition in the market” by taking remedial measures within six months. Google will have to present compliance measures and annual reports for five years.

The move comes as regulators in Europe and the U.S. have also taken aim at Google’s dominance in some online markets. Later, the Turkish competition authority on February fined the firm 98 million lira for abusing its dominant market position and aggressive competition tactics.

Noteworthy, Apple announced that is developing its own search engine technology, where the firm has begun to show its own search results and link directly to websites when users type queries from its home screen.

The web search capability marks an important advance in Apple’s in-house development and could form the foundation of a fuller attack on Google, according to the Tech News.

Moreover, a report by Coywolf states that with iOS 14 beta and iPadOS 14 beta, Apple’s Spotlight Search bypasses Google Search to show search results.
