Social media pioneers circulated an image of three planets lining up above the Pyramids of Giza, Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, in a straight line.
Activists said that the planets that are lining up are Mercury, Venus, and Saturn, claiming that this phenomenon happens every 2373 years.
According to Fact checking Services from Agence France-Presse, this image is not real and some elements appearing on it, are scientifically impossible according to astronomers.
The original image, which was published by particular tourist websites in 2008, showed that the three planets were not there.
On the scientific way, the three planets lining up every year, not every 2373 years can be seen. However, some elements on this image do not make sense, according to astronomers.
The professor of astrophysics, Juan Antonio Aviles said: “The three planets lining up on the image are in a way that it cannot be seen in the sky when looking to the north direction,” and that direction is where the pyramids picture were taken.
The professor indicated to other elements that challenges the authenticity of the image; for example, it is impossible for Mercury and Saturn to be equal in their gleam. He sums up saying “this image doesn’t make sense.”
