President Trump received Messi and his teammates at the White House, where they posed for commemorative photographs to mark the occasion.
During the meeting, Messi presented Trump with several gifts, including a watch engraved with the president’s name, a signed football, an American flag, and an Inter Miami jersey featuring the name “TRUMP 47.”
Messi’s visit came roughly three months after Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi club Al Nassr, visited the White House in November.
With both visits taking place within a short period, Trump has now hosted the two football legends widely regarded as among the greatest players in the history of the sport.
Inter Miami, led by Messi, secured the MLS title for the first time in the club’s history late last year, prompting the White House to invite the team for a ceremonial visit in recognition of their achievement.
