The Guardian reported that Donald Trump, the Republican candidate and former US President, filed an extraordinary complaint against the British Labour Party, alleging that it “interfered” in the US presidential election.
The Trump campaign alleged that in recent weeks, the Labour Party had recruited party members and sent them to campaign for his opponent, the Democratic candidate and Vice President, Kamala Harris, in crucial battleground states in an attempt to influence the November 5 election.
In response, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that party officials who volunteered for Harris ahead of the US election on November 5 “were doing so in their spare time” and not in their official capacity as Labour Party members.
The letter called for an immediate investigation into “blatant foreign interference” in the election in the form of “illegal foreign contributions.”
