Tourism Minister Meets South Sinai Governor to Enhance Tourism Sector Support

Mr. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, commenced his current visit to Sharm El-Sheikh by meeting with Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of South Sinai. The meeting aimed to discuss mechanisms for enhancing joint cooperation and coordination to bolster the tourism sector within the governorate.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed several files of mutual interest and reviewed strategic visions to increase inbound tourism to South Sinai. They also explored ways to upgrade tourism services, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Egypt as a global destination and encouraging further tourism investment.

Key Discussion Points:

Diversifying Tourism Patterns: Promoting South Sinai’s unique offerings, including beach, cultural, spiritual, conference, and shopping tourism, as well as specialized niches like bird watching.

Removing Obstacles: Identifying and resolving challenges facing the industry, particularly in Sharm El-Sheikh.

 Developing New Attractions: Working on creating new tourist hotspots to attract diverse segments of international travelers.

Mr. Sherif Fathy emphasized his commitment to supporting the tourism industry in the governorate, noting that South Sinai possesses diverse resources capable of attracting various types of tourists. He stressed the importance of intensified promotional efforts for these diverse tourism patterns.

For his part, Governor Ismail Kamal welcomed the Minister, praising the productive nature of the discussions. He reaffirmed the governorate’s full support for the sector and its dedication to overcoming obstacles to drive growth in tourist arrivals and investments.

 Ms. Rana Gohar: Advisor to the Minister for Communications and Foreign Relations.

 Mr. Hussein Mohamed: Director General of the Ministry’s office in Sharm El-Sheikh.
