Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy met with Bahraini Ambassador in Cairo, Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal, at his office at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting aimed to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism and antiquities.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Khaled Tharwat, the Minister's Advisor for International Relations and General Supervisor of the General Department of International Relations and Agreements at the Ministry.

Egyptian Minister began the meeting by welcoming the Ambassador and expressing his appreciation for the strong friendship and brotherly ties between Egypt and Bahrain, which continue to grow and develop across all levels. He emphasized that this reflects the close friendship between the political leaderships of the two brotherly countries.

In turn, Zainal congratulated the Minister on his appointment as Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, expressing her best wishes for his success in his new role. She also expressed her hope that the coming period will see further cooperation, particularly in light of the strong bilateral relations and the existing strategic partnership between the two countries.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation in tourism and antiquities between the two brotherly countries. They explored opportunities for creating new joint tourism products and patterns, leveraging the tourism resources and logistical capabilities of both countries. They also discussed implementing joint marketing programs for these products in East Asian countries to capitalize on the growing tourist influx to Egypt from these regions, particularly from China, and Bahrain’s airline connections to these areas, which could help attract more tourists to both countries.

In this context, they also discussed the possibility of organizing professional meetings and workshops between tour operators in Bahrain and their counterparts in Egypt and East Asia in the coming period.

The meeting also covered the enhancement of cooperation mechanisms for organizing temporary exhibitions of Egyptian antiquities in Bahrain, as well as collaboration in training, skills development, restoration, documentation of antiquities, and archaeological excavations in both countries.
