The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El Anani, and the Aswan Governor Ashraf Atteya attended the celebration of the solar alignment phenomenon at Abu Simbel temple which occurs twice a year.
Today’s phenomenon came in a very special numbered date which is 22/2/2022.
The event was attended by the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr. Mostafa Waziri, the Executive Director of the NMEC Authority Dr. Ahmed Ghoniem, and the Tourism Minister’s Assistant for Tourism Promotion Lamia Kamel, alongside several bloggers and officials.
El Anani said that this phenomenon is a unique one, asserting the Abu Simbel Temple should be named as the eighth ancient wonder of the world as the story of its discovery and decorations are exceptional.
He added that the walls of the temple carry the stories of the Kadesh Battle and the earliest peace treaty in history.
The event also included a show of the history of the Simbel Museum, King Ramses II, and the phenomenon, alongside the story of saving and protecting the museum by re-constructing it.
It also contained launching several enlightened balloons to shine in the night of the city and send a message of peace to the world.
Finally, the celebration was followed by a folk performance on the sidelines of the event and the International Aswan Festival for Culture and Arts closing ceremony.
One of the impressive presented shows was “Mawal Al Shams” (Sun’s Ode).
