Tourism Min. Inaugurates Egypt’s Pavilion at COTTM Exhibition

Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion participating in the COTTM International Tourism Exhibition, which is currently being held in the Chinese capital, Beijing.

The opening was attended by Assem Hanafi, Egypt's Ambassador to China, Amr El-Qader, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, and Khaled Tharwat, Advisor to the Minister for International Relations.

The Minister was keen to tour the Egyptian pavilion and meet with the Egyptian exhibitors. He also held an extensive meeting with them on the sidelines of the exhibition, where the Minister listened to their opinions and suggestions to increase the flow of incoming tourism from the Chinese market.

The Minister held several professional meetings with a group of the most important tour operators and tourism and aviation companies in the Chinese market, where they discussed enhancing mechanisms for ways of cooperation.

The Minister also held a number of individual media meetings with representatives of a number of Chinese and international media outlets, including Hainan TV, Xinhua News Agency, People, Beijing Daily, Global Times, CGTN in Arabic, CCTV CHINA, CMG, and a press conference organized by the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion and another press conference organized by the Egyptian Embassy in China at the embassy headquarters.

The importance of tourism for the economies of countries and achieving communication and connection between peoples, and the importance of the Chinese market for Egyptian tourism were also discussed.

He also referred to the developments witnessed by the tourism sector in Egypt and the development work being done in the tourism infrastructure and the road and transportation network and the establishment of new tourism projects including the New Alamein City and the Ras El Hekma project on the North Coast.
