Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El-Anany, Aswan Governor Major General Ashraf Attia, 50 ambassadors from over 30 countries, Egyptian newspapers distinguished figures, and foreign bloggers witnessed on Friday the marvelous phenomenon of solar illumination at Abu Simbel temple.
This phenomenon occurs twice annually, around 22 February and October 22.
Today's sun orthogonality started around 5:52 and continued for 20 minutes.
The ambassadors were keen to take a group photo with the minister in front of the Nefertari temple while carrying the flags of their countries.
This came within the framework of the activities organized by the Ministry at Abu Simbel, on the occasion of the phenomenon of the sun’s perpendicularity. It was held under the auspices of the National Bank of Egypt.
These events kicked off yesterday with a lecture by El-Anany about the two temples of Abu Simbel.
The minister spoke about its history and the great story about the campaign to save the Egyptian temples to build the High Dam, where more than 20 temples and shrines were moved in cooperation with UNESCO.
El-Anany also highlighted the most important developments in the tourism sector in Egypt and the steps Egypt has taken to preserve the health and safety of citizens, tourists, and workers in the sector.
In addition, he reviewed the most important precautions and safety measures taken by Egypt and how it was applied with accuracy and strictness in hotel and tourist establishments, museums, archaeological sites, airports, and other various tourist activities.
These measures were developed in accordance with the standards of the World Health Organization to combat the Coronavirus.
The minister also noted that Egypt is a safe destination to visit and is distinguished by its uniqueness unparalleled tourism and archaeological potentials throughout the year.
El-Anany pointed out that the tourist is offered a unique tourist experience in complete safety, during which they enjoy the beauty of Egypt’s beaches and its wonderful, sunny, and healthy atmosphere alongside touring the ancient Egyptian civilization and its unique monuments.
