Today, February 27, marks the third death anniversary of Youssef Shaaban. He was best known for his role as "Batlimous" in the 2010 Cleopatra series. Shaaban was born in Cairo's Shubra district in 1931 and received his degree in acting from the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts. He acted in numerous TV dramas, plays, and films throughout his career.

Some of his most popular works include The Miracle (1962), Cairo (1963), Mother of the Bride (1963), For Men Only (1964), The Three Love Her (1965), My Wife, the Director General (1966), The Second Groom (1967), and The Idol of the People (1967), which starred Abdel-Halim Hafez and Shadia.

After joining the National Theatre in 1962, Shaaban initially worked as a narrator before going on to act in dozens of dramatic, classical, and romantic plays on stage. He then transitioned to an illustrious film career, with his breakthrough role coming in the 1961 classic film "There is a Man in Our House" directed by Henry Barakat. The movie starred well-known actors at the time, such as Omar Sharif, Rushdy Abaza, Zahret El-Ola, Hussein Riad, Zubaida Tharwat, and Hassan Youssef.

Throughout his career, Shaaban was recognized with several awards, including the Best Actor Award in the Alexandria Festival for Mediterranean Cinema in 2016, and the Egyptian National Theater Festival Award in 2019. Unfortunately, he passed away from COVID-19 in 2021 at the age of 89.
