The Weeknd has canceled his concert at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles that was scheduled for January 25 and will delay the release of his forthcoming album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” until January 31.
“Out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County, i am canceling the Rose Bowl concert originally scheduled for January 25th,” he wrote on social media. “This city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time. At least 24 people have died in the Los Angeles wildfires and an area of 60 square miles has burned in the past week. More than 92,000 Los Angeles County residents are under evacuation orders and some 89,000 are under evacuation warnings, according to authorities.
The album, “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” is the final installment in his trilogy that began with his blockbuster “After Hours” LP in 2020.
It will be followed by a companion film of the same title, starring The Weeknd with Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan, in May. The album will be followed by a world tour, therefore it is likely that another Los Angeles concert will take place later this year.
