AMC has unveiled the official trailer for the highly-anticipated The Walking Dead spinoff series, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live".

It is one of several new spin-offs series in The Walking Dead universe announced in July 2023 at San Diego Comic-Con.

The Walking Dead Universe includes "Fear The Walking Dead", which premiered in 2015, and the spin-offs that feature fan-favorite characters from the original series including "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" and "The Walking Dead: Dead City" which will follow Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

"The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" was based on a comic book series of the same name by Robert Kirkman.

It consists of six episodes and tells the epic love story of Rick and Michonne Grimes, two of the original series' most beloved characters.

The spinoff directly continues where the main series left off with Michonne setting off in search of Rick.

The official synopsis reads: "Kept apart by distance. By an unstoppable power. By the ghosts of who they were. Rick and Michonne are thrown into another world, built on a war against the dead … And ultimately, a war against the living. Can they find each other and who they were in a place and situation unlike any they’ve ever known before? Are they enemies? Lovers? Victims? Victors? Without each other, are they even alive — or will they find that they, too, are the Walking Dead?".

In the trailer, Michonne searches high and low for Rick, who appears to be held against his will by the Alliance of the Three. It also offers a look at Terry O’Quinn as Major General Beale and Pollyanna McIntosh’s return as Jadis.

Lincoln left “The Walking Dead” in 2018 after nearly ten years. His character disappeared during Season 9 while Gurira’s character left during Season 10 to find him premiering Sunday, February 25 on AMC and AMC+. Both later made cameos in the 2022 season finale.

“The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live” is executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, who also serves as showrunner, Lincoln, Gurira, Denise Huth, and Brian Bockrath.
