"The Walking Dead: Dead City" New Footage Unveiled

The official trailer for the highly-anticipated spinoff series "The Walking Dead: Dead City" has been unveiled.

The series follows the kidnapping of Maggie's (Lauren Cohan) son Marshall, the only thing she has left of her husband Glenn (Steven Yeun).

Maggie and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) travel to New York City to hunt down the people that took her son, in a crumbling city filled with the dead and denizens who have made New York City their own world full of anarchy, danger, beauty, and terror.

"Ghostbusters: Afterlife" actor Logan Kim has been tapped to portray the teenage Hershel Rhee.

The 16-year-old actor will replace Kien Michael Spiller, who played the character during the last two seasons of "The Walking Dead".

Hershel was named after his grandfather (Scott Wilson), who served as a mentor and father figure to the original Atlanta survivors until he was killed in Season 4 at the hands of David Morrissey's The Governor.

Maggie has had hatred towards Negan for years for brutally murdering Glenn and has attempted to kill him many times. Negan, on the other hand, has tried to turn a new leaf and make amends including saving what is most precious to Maggie.

However, Maggie has been unable to forgive him much less fully trust him, but when push comes to shove the two make a great team.

"The Walking Dead: Dead City" new ruthless character Perlie Armstrong (Gaius Charles) roaming the city streets. Armstrong is a marshal hunting down Negan to make him pay for his crimes with the Saviors.

The six-episode series takes place two years after the main show's finale. The spin-off is set in a post-apocalyptic Manhattan which allows no room to breathe for survivors as it is overrun by herds of zombies and other unimaginable threats.

Survivors will face the dead and the living in equal measure, and as we've learned from past experiences in the main series, the living can be a bigger threat than the dead. For now, the dead also appears to be a big threat with newer, gorier zombies.

Speaking about the series, showrunner Eli Jorné explained what the show has to offer both loyal fans of The Walking Dead and newcomers.

“It is The Walking Dead like we’ve never seen it before. We haven’t really lived in a city like this.” Jorné noted.

“It is New York; there’s skyscrapers up to the sky and a million and a half walkers. And for characters like Maggie and Negan, who’ve been running through the woods for a long time, it’s just a whole new world that’s just extremely claustrophobic, scary, and also, as you’ll discover, has pockets of survivors, you’ll get to see all the strange new ways they live in the apocalypse, it’s definitely like nothing you’ve seen before.”

"The Walking Dead: Dead City" will premiere on Sunday, June 18 at 10 pm ET. It will air on AMC and AMC+. Subsequent episodes will move to the 9 pm ET timeslot.
