In a powerful endorsement from one of the Arab world’s most respected critical institutions, "The Voice of Hind Rajab" has been awarded Best Arab Film by the Egyptian Film Critics Association (EFCA) at their annual critics’ awards for films released in 2025. The honor marks yet another major accolade in the film’s extraordinary global journey.

Directed by acclaimed Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, "The Voice of Hind Rajab" beat out fellow regional contenders to secure the critics’ top honor in the Arab film category, capturing a strong majority of votes from the jury of seasoned critics.

Building on its remarkable international trajectory — from a historic standing ovation and multiple awards at the Venice International Film Festival to a slate of major nominations at the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, and Academy Awards — the EFCA recognition underscores the film’s deep resonance with audiences and critics alike across the Arab world and beyond.

"The Voice of Hind Rajab" is a Tunisian-French docudrama that blends vérité and cinematic storytelling to bring to life the harrowing true events surrounding Hind Rajab, a young Palestinian girl killed in Gaza. Using authentic voice recordings between Hind and Red Crescent volunteers who tried to save her, the film transforms a single voice into a powerful testimony of humanity and endurance.

Written and directed by Kaouther Ben Hania — whose previous films include The Man Who Sold His Skin and Four Daughters — "The Voice of Hind Rajab" continues a historic run that has positioned it as one of the most significant non-English language films of the year.

The film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, where it received a record-breaking standing ovation and won the Silver Lion Grand Jury Prize. It has since screened at major international festivals worldwide, including as the closing film of the Cairo International Film Festival and the opening film of the inaugural Doha Film Festival.

The film has earned numerous honors across Europe and the Arab world, including audience awards and jury prizes at leading festivals, as well as recent recognition at the Carthage Film Festival.

"The Voice of Hind Rajab" is executive produced by Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, and Alfonso Cuarón, alongside Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner through Plan B Entertainment, with Film4 and MBC Studios receiving “In Association With” credits. Additional executive producers include Jemima Khan, Frank Giustra, and Sabine Getty.

The film stars Amer Hlehel, Clara Khoury, Motaz Malhees, and Saja Kilani, and was filmed in Tunisia. Worldwide sales are handled by Paris-based The Party Film Sales, co-representing North American rights with CAA Media Finance. Distribution across the Arab World is managed by MAD Distribution.

Produced by Tanit Films, Mime Films (Nadim Cheikhrouha), RaeFilm Studios (Odessa Rae), and JW Films Production (James Wilson), in collaboration with the Palestinian Red Crescent, "The Voice of Hind Rajab" stands as one of the most urgent and talked-about films of the year.
