Two of Universal’s most highly anticipated reboots are shifting release dates: “Miami Vice ’85,” starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler is moving to May 19, 2028, taking the release date for the next installment of “The Mummy,” which features the return of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz.

The yet-to-be-titled fourth “Mummy” movie, from Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, will now hit theaters on October 15, 2027.

Academy Award winners Fraser and Weisz will reprise their roles as adventurer Rick O’Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell in the movie, plot details for which are being kept — not unironically — under wraps.

Production on the “Miami Vice” update, from “F1” and “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski, will start later this year.

On Thursday, the newly minted Oscar winner Jordan and Oscar nominee Butler closed their deals to play the suave South Florida detectives Ricardo “Rico” Tubbs and James “Sonny” Crockett in the film, which will explore “the glamour and corruption of mid-80s Miami.”

The reboot is said to be inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark Universal television series that “influenced culture and set the style of everything from fashion to filmmaking.”

Philip Michael Thomas and Don Johnson starred in the classic 80s TV series; then Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx led in the first big-screen adaptation, 2006’s “Miami Vice,” directed by Michael Mann.

“Miami Vice ’85” previously scheduled for release on August 6, 2027, will be filmed for Imax.
