HBO unveiled a first look at several major series coming in 2025, including “The Last of Us” Season 2, the “Game of Thrones” spinoff “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” and more.
The teaser was released shortly before the Season 2 finale of “House of the Dragon” on Sunday night.
It offered a preview of all of the upcoming series in 2024 and a quick look at what’s to come next year.
Some of the big shows yet to debut in 2024 include “The Penguin,” a spinoff series from Matt Reeves’ “The Batman”; “Dune: Prophecy,” a prequel series following the Bene Gesserit from Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” movies; Season 3 of “Industry,”; Season 5 of “Harley Quinn”; and James Gunn’s animated DC series “Creature Commandos.
The footage concluded with a brand new look at the upcoming 2025 shows.
There was a quick look at the Thailand-set “White Lotus” Season 3; “And Just Like That” Season 3; “The Gilded Age” Season 3; “Welcome to Derry,” a prequel series to the “It” horror movies; “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”; and “The Last of Us” Season 2.
The “Last of Us” sneak peek featured the returns of Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, and Gabriel Luna as Tommy.
It also offered a first look at newcomer Isabela Merced as Dina, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, and Catherine O’Hara’s mysterious character.
HBO previously dropped a first-look photo of star Pedro Pascal, who plays the cold-but-loving father figure Joel to Bella Ramsey’s Ellie. Just as the first season of “The Last of Us” was adapted from the acclaimed 2013 video game of the same title, Season 2 is expected to follow the events of its 2020 sequel, “The Last of Us Part II,” which deals with the fallout from Joel’s actions in the Season 1 finale.
