Mark Wahlberg will fire up the minivan once again as he returns as a government assassin turned suburban dad in a  sequel to the 2023 action-comedy movie “The Family Plan.”

Apple Original Films announced that the follow-up is in development with Wahlberg set to produce, as well as star in the feature.

Michelle Monaghan, Zoe Colletti, and Van Crosby will also reprise their roles as the various members of the Morgan family with the creative team of the first movie filmmaker Simon Cellan Jones and scriptwriter David Coggeshall are set to return for part deux.

“The Family Plan” takes place at Christmas in Europe where the family’s dream vacation is upended after Wahlberg’s character’s past comes back to haunt them.

Critics mostly hated “The Family Plan” but audiences appeared to embrace it. Apple said that the movie was “the most viewed movie in Apple TV+ history,” and was later supplanted by the George Clooney and Brad Pitt action-comedy “Wolfs,” which the service, with a similar lack of statistical evidence, recently enthused had taken the “most viewed movie in Apple TV+ history” crown.

“I am beyond excited to step back into the shoes of Dan Morgan again alongside my brilliant co-stars, and with Simon and David returning,” Wahlberg said in a statement. “Making ‘The Family Plan,’ and seeing it become an instant success with global audiences in the way that it did, has been incredibly rewarding. We can’t wait to collaborate with our partners at Apple and Skydance again on this next chapter for the Morgan family as their European holiday inevitably goes awry.”

Skydance Media will produce “The Family Plan” sequel. David Ellison (poised to takeover Paramount Global), Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger will produce the movie for Skydance, alongside Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson through Municipal Pictures. John G. Scotti will executive produce the picture along with Cellan Jones.

Apple Original Films is set to debut “Blitz,” a WWII drama from Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen in select theaters this week before it starts streaming on Apple TV+ on November 22. Upcoming projects for the service include “The Gorge,” a love story starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Sigourney Weaver as well as “F1,” starring Brad Pitt from director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.
