Sony Pictures unveiled Tuesday the first look at Oscar-Winner actor Denzel Washington's highly-anticipated threequel "The Equalizer".
The footage was released after being shown Monday at CinemaCon. Washington received a Lifetime Achievement Award presented by director Antoine Fuqua during Sony’s presentation, which kicked off the annual four day-event in Las Vegas.
“We would be nothing without you all. We’re here for you. We’re here because of you. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I have been blessed beyond measure,” Washington said.
In "The Equalizer 3", Robert McCall (Washington) is living quietly in Italy where he is now one of the locals. He must protect his friends when the mafia turns up.
The project witnesses Dakota Fanning reteaming with the Oscar-Winner actor Denzel Washington after nearly 20 years since their hit-action thriller "Man On Fire".
David Denman, Sonia Ben Ammar, and Remo Girone also star in “The Equalizer 3”.
Fuqua directed the pic from a screenplay by Richard Wenk. It is produced by Escape Artists’ Academy Award nominee Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Washington.
Based on the 1980s CBS series of the same name, the first installment in the franchise was released in 2014 and allocated more than $194 million worldwide, leading to a sequel in 2018, which grossed over $190 million worldwide.
"The Equalizer 3" will be released in theaters on September 1. Check out the trailer below.
