Twenty years after the release of “The Devil Wears Prada,” Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway are returning to the world of high fashion and workplace politics on May 1.
20th Century Studios has released the official trailer for “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” offering a more detailed look at the highly anticipated sequel.
A sequel to the beloved 2006 film, “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” will follow Streep as Runway magazine’s editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly, dealing with the decline of print journalism and attempting to find her footing in a dying industry. Priestly finds herself facing off against Emily Blunt’s character, her former assistant who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising money that Priestly desperately needs.
A sequel to the beloved 2006 film, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” follows Runway editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly as she attempts to navigate her career in a world where print journalism is dying.
Miranda soon finds herself being faced against Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), her former junior assistant who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.
The original “Devil Wears Prada” follows recent college graduate Andrea Sachs, who finds herself eager to secure a job in journalism. Andy soon takes a position at Runway Magazine as a junior assistant for Priestly, where she is forced to choose between a professional life or losing her personal relationships, the closer she gets to her dream career.
A critical and commercial hit, “The Devil Wears Prada” grossed $326 million at the worldwide box office.
Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracie Thoms, and Tibor Feldman will reprise their roles in “The Devil Wears Prada 2.” Kenneth Branagh will play Priestly’s husband in the sequel. Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Justin Theroux, Lady Gaga, and Pauline Chalamet will be joining as additional cast members.
Meanwhile, Patrick Brammall will play Andy’s new love interest, with Rachel Bloom playing an undisclosed role in the film.
Broadway stars Helen J. Shen and Conrad Ricamora are also set to appear, along with comedian Caleb Hearon. Adrian Grenier, who played Sachs’ boyfriend Nate in the original, will not be returning.

David Frankel, who directed the 2006 film, and Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the original screenplay, will return for the sequel along with producer Wendy Finerman. Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and McKenna will executive produce the film.
