The sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2 has delivered a strong global debut, quickly rising to the top of both box office rankings and critical reviews within less than 72 hours of release.

The film has earned a 79% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes after more than 200 reviews, surpassing the original 2006 film, which holds 76%. Audience reactions have also been positive, with an IMDb score of 7/10 and a CinemaScore grade of A-.

Critics have largely praised the film for balancing nostalgia with modern themes. The Atlantic described it as a light yet engaging continuation that reflects today’s media landscape, while The Times highlighted the strong on-screen dynamic between Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. The Daily Mail called it a sharp and witty update that captures how much the world has changed over two decades.

Other reviews noted the film’s mix of humor, fashion drama, and emotional depth. The New Yorker described it as an elegant satire on fading media influence, while Time magazine said it is more mature and darker than the original, with a more realistic tone.

Box office performance has also exceeded expectations. The film reportedly outperformed the original’s opening weekend globally, earning over 114 million dollars in its early run, including strong international performance in markets such as Brazil and Italy.

Directed by David Frankel, the sequel reunites the original creative team and cast, including Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Produced by 20th Century Studios, the film is currently playing in cinemas worldwide and is expected to remain a major box office success throughout the summer season.
