The Batik is an ancient art that enhances the household with its beauty.
The Egyptian batik artist Samar Hassanein creates artworks with the technique and presents them in various forms such as clothes, tablecloths, curtains, and furnishings.
Hassanein unveiled a new collection that features batik designs of curtains, tablecloths, and pillowcases.
The collection gives a joy vibe and is suitable for the holy month of Ramadan, spring, or summer.
*Curtains as an alternative to painting
Hassanein noted that the batik was always present in Egypt in the form of a painting.
“What is new was that we presented it in form of clothing. As for me, the curtain and furnishings were an alternative to painting or tableau for anyone who desires a different artistic approach,” she added.
The designer disclosed that her first batik job was doing curtains for the artist Sami Amin's house.
“He was the first person who encouraged me and gave me a strong boost to creativity,” she noted.
*Every curtain has a story
Creating curtains took a very long period, in both developing the idea and defining the style or implementation technique to reach the desired idea or color group.
“Each curtain has a story and a creative journey of its own, thus it is a piece characterized by its uniqueness,” she added.
The designer pointed out that all the curtains and bedspreads create a state of joy for any place as well as harmony and happiness with its colors.
“It can be very suitable for Ramadan and summer, whether in the house of a city or the coastal house,” she added.
* Distinguished curtains
The curtains are characterized by being an artistic painting, but at the same time, it needs to be in line with the home’s decor and colors.
This encouraged the designer to create a variety of curtains that speaks to the owners of the household and their personality as well as adds distinction to the decor of the home.
* Various furnishings
The batik home furnishings included couches, bed linens.
The designer often presented designs for each customer that matched their home decor and colors because the design needs to be complementary and compatible with colors not only with each other but also with the colors and style of the whole house.
She sometimes also creates new designs for each home as well as prepares designs in advance that she was inspired with such as the palm trees, which symbolize good, growth, and high elegance.
