Trending superstar Taylor Swift will make her feature-length directorial debut with her new film that will be for Searchlight Pictures, the company announced on Friday.
The award-winning artist wrote the script, however, she didn’t announce any details regarding the film.
Swift previously directed videos for “All Too Well” and “The Man,” and she won MTV VMAs for both.
All Too Well: The Short Film could also participate at next year’s Oscar for best short film.
Presidents of Searchlight David Greenbaum, and Matthew Greenfield said: “Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.
Last year, Swift expressed that she has the desire to take more steps in the field of movie-making.
She said: “I’d love to keep taking baby steps forward.”
“And I think that I’m at a place now where the next baby step is not a baby step. It would be committing to making a film. And I feel like I would just absolutely love for the right opportunity to arise because I just absolutely, absolutely adore telling stories this way,” Swift added.
Swift also expressed that she wanted to tell “human stories about human emotion” and could see herself going to a “more comedic, irreverent place”.
The singer made a small appearance in David O Russell’s Amsterdam, Cats, Valentine’s Day, and The Giver.
Next year she will go on a tour. It is going to be her first all-stadium tour since 2018.
