Taylor Swift is honoring to one of the fathers of modern pop and the ’80s on her song “Father Figure,” which will tribute George Michael’s 1987 hit single of the same name.
According to Billboard, the pop star has interpolated the late icon’s fingerprints on the fourth track of her upcoming new album "The Life of a Showgirl".
The news comes after weeks of speculation and just three days ahead of the release of "The Life of a Showgirl" on October 3rd.
This week, Swifties have been flooding social media with excitement over the possibility that Michael is credited as a songwriter on “Father Figure,” which hadn’t been confirmed until now.
“Father Figure” is one of several beloved hits from Michael’s 1987 debut album, "Faith". The track has experienced a resurgence in the past year or so, thanks to its popularity on TikTok.
Swift’s song featuring Michael’s work comes nearly two decades after she first paid homage to Wham! star. In 2008, the Eras Tour headliner covered the duo’s “Last Christmas” for her Christmas album.
