Global superstar Taylor Swift continues to shatter records with her new song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” released as part of Disney and Pixar’s highly anticipated Toy Story 5. Within days of its release, the track has achieved a series of historic milestones across major music streaming platforms.
According to industry data, the song became the most-streamed country song by a female artist in a single day in Spotify history, amassing more than 8.5 million streams within its first 24 hours.
The achievements did not stop there. On Apple Music, the track became the biggest country single of 2026 based on first-day streams and also broke the all-time record for the largest first-day streaming debut for a soundtrack song in the platform’s history.
The song has also enjoyed remarkable commercial success, reaching No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes chart. The achievement marks Swift’s 79th song to top the iTunes chart, further extending her record as the artist with the most No. 1 songs in iTunes history.
Swift released the song on June 5, after writing it specifically for Toy Story 5 following an early screening of the film. Inspired by the beloved character Jessie, the track was co-written and produced with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff, marking another successful partnership between the two musicians.
In an emotional message shared on her social media platforms, Swift reflected on her connection to the project and the iconic Pixar franchise, saying:
“Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a Toy Story kid from the age of five until now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
She also thanked the film’s director Andrew Stanton, writing:
“Thank you to the brilliant Andrew Stanton for imagining me for this, all those years ago when you wrote this newest film.”
Swift further paid tribute to legendary composer Randy Newman, whose music has been an essential part of the Toy Story franchise for decades:
“You created the Toy Story musical world, and we are lucky to get to live in it.”
The singer revealed that she and Antonoff wrote the song out of their deep affection for the characters that shaped their childhoods, explaining:
“We wrote this with so much adoration for these characters that made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods.”
The song’s success has not only resonated with fans but has also attracted attention from industry awards analysts. Several Hollywood publications have already identified “I Knew It, I Knew You” as a potential contender for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, a category in which every previous Toy Story film has received at least one nomination.
As the song continues to break records worldwide, Swift once again demonstrates her unique ability to combine commercial success with critical acclaim in a collaboration that brings together one of the world’s biggest music stars and one of the most beloved animated franchises of all time.
Toy Story 5 is scheduled for worldwide release on June 19, while audiences in Egypt will be able to see the film beginning June 18.
The film follows the classic Toy Story characters as they struggle to adapt to a rapidly changing world in which technology has become a direct threat to imaginative play. Beloved heroes Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie return for a new adventure as they confront children’s growing fascination with electronic devices over traditional toys. Together, they embark on a mission to preserve the values of friendship, creativity, and fun in an increasingly digital world.
The film features the return of many original voice cast members, including Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, Tony Hale as Forky, Wallace Shawn as Rex, and John Ratzenberger as Hamm. New additions include Scarlett Spears as Bonnie and Greta Lee as Lily Pad. Following the passing of original cast members Don Rickles and Estelle Harris, new actors have been brought in to voice Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head.
Directed by Andrew Stanton alongside McKenna Harris, the film is produced by Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures, and distributed by United Motion Pictures.
