Egyptian actor and screenwriter Tarek Al Amir died on Wednesday after a struggle with illness. He was 56.
The late actor's brother announced the news on Facebook. Details regarding the consolation marquee and the funeral have not been revealed yet.
Prior to his death, Al Amir suffered a health crisis in recent days, which resulted in him being hospitalized in the intensive care unit (ICU).
"Tarek Al Amir was transferred to the intensive care unit in critical condition. He had been suffering from heart problems in recent days, which led to a deterioration in his health," Head of the Actors' Syndicate, actor Ashraf Zaki, said in a statement.
Salma, his niece, stated that his heart stopped for approximately 18 minutes, as did his kidneys, but their functions resumed after a divine intervention and the doctors' efforts.
On Tuesday, his sister shared a heartbreaking update on his health, stating that he had contracted an infection in the ICU and his chest was full of phlegm
She added that his condition required a miracle, noting that he was in a coma and completely unconscious.
Born on May 19,1969, Al Amir began his career in the nineties and booked minor roles in cinema and television.
He is best known for his role as prison officer Hani in the 2003 comedy classic "Elly Baly Balak" and portrayal of Abdel Monsef in the 2010 comedy classic film “Assal Eswed”.
Al Amir is also famous for writing the films "Katkoot" (2006), "Matab Snaaei" (2006) and "El Hob keda" (2007).
