Argentina Cabinet Chief Manuel Adorni resigned on Saturday following a political crisis that triggered investigations into his personal finances and spending practices.
Adorni, a close ally of President Javier Milei, had served as chief of staff since November 2025 after previously acting as the president's spokesperson.
In his resignation letter, Adorni said he was stepping down with a "clear conscience," despite earlier assurances from Milei that he would remain in office.
The former official faces allegations of illicit enrichment linked to expenses and assets that prosecutors say appear inconsistent with his declared income. Critics have also questioned several private family trips, including holidays in Europe and travel to Uruguay.
Adorni denies wrongdoing, insisting his wealth was accumulated before entering government and that all personal travel was financed with private funds. He recently acknowledged that about $500,000 in savings had not been previously declared, describing the omission as an unintentional error and pledging to settle any outstanding liabilities.
The investigations continue as the scandal poses a fresh challenge for Milei's administration amid its broader economic reform agenda.
