Egyptian superstar Tamer Hosny is gearing up to make a comeback to the small screen after 7 years of absence.
Hosny made his last onscreen appearance in a cameo role in the 2019 star-studded TV series "Weld Al Ghalaba," which starred Ahmed El Sakka and Mai Omar.
In a statement, Hosny shared an update on his upcoming projects, noting that he is currently working on a new film and a new series. He noted that the two projects are still in the preparation stage and expressed his hope that the upcoming works will impress the audience when they are released.
Hosny made his last appearance on the big screen in the film "Restart".
The film boasts a cast that includes Hannah El Zahed, Bassem Samra, Mohamed Tharwat, Said Osama also known as Mika, and more.
Ayman Bahgat Kamar scripts the pic that marks the fourth collaboration between Hosny and director Sara Wafik after the 2024 film "Tag," the 2021 film "Mesh Ana," and the 2012 film "Omar & Salma 3".
It marks Hosny and El Zahed's third collaboration after the 2022 film “Behabek” and the 2009 TV series “Farq Tawqit”.
The pic released on May 29 and grossed nearly EGP 700 million in Egypt and the Gulf countries.
The official logline for the film reads: "Mohamed, a humble phone technician, dreams of marrying Afaf, a small-time influencer. To afford their future, they team up with their quirky families to chase internet fame - and with the help of the notorious agent “the Joker” they make it big! As fame and fortune roll in, they lose sight of what truly matters. Now, it’s up to Mohamed to restore his family bond and save the love of his life from the grip of online fame."
Hosny, born on August 16, 1977, began his career when renowned TV presenter Salma Al Shamaa gave him his lifetime opportunity to perform at the Cairo Opera House.
During his performance, he worked alongside other rising talents including, Sherine Mohamed Abdel-Wahab; the performance was attended by renowned producer Nasr Mahrous.
Ever since, Hosny worked closely with Mahrous and released his first album, which consequently achieved great success and opened the gates of stardom and fame, not only in singing but also in the entertainment industry.
He made his acting debut in the 2004 film “Halet Hob”, co-starring Hany Salama, Hend Sabry, and others.
Hosny is known for singing “Kol Mara”, “Bent El Eh” and “Aktar Haga”, and for his roles in films such as “Omar and Salma” and “Captain Hema”.
The pop star performed many shows in Egypt and other Arab countries, including Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Dubai, and Jordan.
