Sweden has awarded the prominent Egyptian politician and diplomat Amr Mousa the insignia of commander first class of the royal order of the polar star.
The insignia was presented to Mousa by Swedish ambassador to Cairo Jan Thesleff, on behalf of his majesty king Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
The royal order of the polar star is created for the 1st time by King Frederick I in 1748, for foreign nationals only, in recognition of services paid and the promotion of good relations with the Kingdom of Sweden.
The motto of the order is “Nescit Occasum,” a Latin phrase means "It knows no decline,” referring to the fixed polar star.
