Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities Dr. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Director of the French Institute in Cairo David Sadoulé, and Director of the French Institute for Oriental Archaeology in Cairo Pierre Tallet signed a cooperation agreement as part of the ongoing Egyptian-French cooperation in the field of archaeology.
The agreement focuses on training archaeological site inspectors, and museums' staff supervised by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, in specialized French language skills relevant to archaeology.
French Ambassador to Egypt Eric Chevallier, and the Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for International Relations and General Supervisor of the International Relations Department Ambassador Khaled Tharwat attended the occasion.
On his side, Khaled highlighted that the French Institute in Egypt (IFE) will organize a series of specialized French language training courses for selected archaeological inspectors and museum curators from the Supreme Council of Antiquities.
Candidates for these programs will be nominated based on established selection criteria.
Up to 100 trainees will receive complimentary access to the libraries of the French Institute in Egypt, including its digital resources, during the training period.
This access will allow them to benefit from a wealth of scientific books and references, which are considered a valuable repository of knowledge in the field of archaeology.
Khaled praised the step, emphasizing the strong cooperation between Egypt and France across various fields, particularly in archaeology.
He expressed gratitude to the French parties for this initiative, which aims to enhance the academic and practical expertise of the Supreme Council of Antiquities staff. This aligns with the ministry's priorities for capacity building.
