Searchlight’s "Super Troopers 3" will speed into theatres on August 7, 2026.
The movie will go head-to-head with the Universal comedy "One Night Only" directed by Will Gluck as well as an untitled New Line movie.
Jay Chandrasekhar returns to direct the Vermont State Trooper comedy, the filmmaker reprising his role as Thorny on screen along with buds Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske who are back in their respective roles of Farva, Mac, Foster and Rabbit. Brian Cox also returns as Captain John O’Hagan and Marisa Coughlan as Ursula Hanson.
Joining the cast are Oscar winner Nat Faxon (The Way Way Back) as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford (The Boys) as Baker Buchanan and Andrew Dismukes (Saturday Night Live) as Coy Burns; Hannah Simone, Iqbal Theba, Sakina Jaffrey, Jon Rudnitsky and Lisa Gilroy. Plot details are under wraps.
"Super Troopers" was released by then Fox Searchlight in 2001 after being acquired at the Sundance Film Festival.
Following its debut, the film then went on to win the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival. A sequel was later released in 2018.
The films were directed by Chandrasekhar and written by and starring the entire Broken Lizard group.
Combined the movies have grossed $55M at the global box office off a combined thrifty production cost that’s under $15M (before P&A).
