The Broken Lizard comedy team, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske, are reteaming with Searchlight Pictures for a third installment of the cult classic “Super Troopers” franchise.

Broken Lizard has penned the script for “Super Troopers 3,” which Chandrasekhar is set to direct again with Richard Perello producing.

Chandrasekhar and the rest of the group’s members will reprise their roles, along with Brian Cox (“Succession,” “Super Troopers” franchise) who also returns as Captain John O’Hagan and Marisa Coughlan (“Super Troopers” franchise) as Ursula Hanson.

Also joining the cast are Nat Faxon (“The Way Way Back”) as Captain Todd Markowski, Chace Crawford (“The Boys”) as Baker Buchanan and Andrew Dismukes (“Saturday Night Live”) as Coy Burns.

Principal photography on the pic will commence later this week.

“Super Troopers” was released by Fox Searchlight in 2001 after being acquired at the Sundance Film Festival. Following its debut, the film then went on to win the Audience Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival.

A sequel was later released in 2018. Both were directed by Chandrasekhar and written by and starring the entire Broken Lizard group.

Creative Executive Apolline Berty, Vice President of Production Richard Ruiz, and Creative Executive Daniel Yu are overseeing the project for Searchlight Pictures, reporting to Co-Heads of Film Production & Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.

Chandrasekhar, Heffernan, Lemme, Soter and Stolhanske’s Broken Lizard is a five-man comedy and filmmaking group that previously partnered with Searchlight Pictures on “Super Troopers” and “Super Troopers 2,” as well as “Club Dread” and “Quasi.” Their other film credits include “Beerfest” and “The Slammin’ Salmon.” Heffernan and Lemme are also the creators and stars of TruTV’s hit comedy “Tacoma FD.”

Cox appeared alongside the Broken Lizard comedy troupe in both “Super Troopers” and its sequel “Super Troopers 2.” Over the years, he has appeared in acclaimed films such as “The Ring,” “X2: X-Men United,” “Troy,” “The Bourne Supremacy” and “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Cox earned an Emmy award for his performance in “Nuremberg.” More recently, he received widespread critical acclaim and three Emmy nominations for his lead role in “Succession.”

Coughlan was also in both “Super Troopers” and its sequel “Super Troopers 2.” Her previous film credits include “Space Station 76,” “Already Dead,” “Teaching Mrs. Tingle” and “Meet Bill.” Television credits include “Legacies,” “How to Be a Gentleman”, “Man Up!” and “Bones.”

Faxon has penned and directed numerous Searchlight Pictures titles including “The Way Way Back” and “The Descendants,” for which he won an Academy Award for adapted screenplay. Crawford is known for his roles in “The Boys” and “Gossip Girl” and has also starred in films including “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” and “The Covenant.” Dismukes has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work on “Saturday Night Live.”
