Egypt to Open Sun Kings Exhibition in Prague

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Khaled al-Anani visited the "Kings of the Sun" exhibition in the Czech capital Prague, today.

The visit came hours before opening the exhibition at the National Museum in Prague.

Anani and Andrei Babisch, Czech Prime Minister will open the exhibition tonight.

The tour was attended by Said Hendam, Egypt`s ambassador to Prague, Badr Abdel-Ati, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, Dr. Miroslav Barta, Vice President of Charles University, Michal Lukac, the Museum Director, Dr. Zahi Hawass, Egyptian archaeologist and members of the Egyptian delegation.

During his visit, Anani held a number of meetings with tour operators and tourism officials in the Czech to discuss resuming the tourism movement in Egypt.

The exhibition displays 90 artifacts from the excavations of the Czech mission in the Archaeological Zone of Abu Sir. It includes the head part of King Neferefre Isi a statue and a group of statues from the Old Kingdom.

It is also includes statues of a writer, senior statesmen, officials, canopic vessels group and ten Ushabti statues of faience. The artifacts include huge statues of the deities Isis, Serapis, and statues of the Sphinx.

The exhibition organizers are expecting to receive more than 300,000 visitors in Prague. It will end in February 2021.

Noteworthy, The Sun Kings exhibition is an exceptional international project that documents the greatest archaeological discoveries of Czech Egyptologists in the Archaeological Zone of Abu Sir.
