"Suits" Spinoff "Suits: LA" Casts Lex Scott Davis as Female Lead

"The First Purge" star Lex Scott Davis has been cast as the female lead in the NBC drama pilot the “Suits” spinoff series, "Suits L.A.", a new extension of the Suits universe from Aaron Korsh, creator and writer of the original series.  

Davis joins previously announced cast members Stephen Amell and Josh McDermitt in the new series.

The drama is scheduled to start shooting in late March in Vancouver and follows Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself by representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. 

“His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved,” reads the logline.

Davis will play Erica Rollins, described as “a savvy and strong-willed rising star. Erica works for Ted Black. She’s shrewd enough to test the loyalty of her associates only to admire some of them for not having any.”

The original series ran for nine seasons from 2011-2019 on USA Network but has recently regained popularity after the first eight seasons were added to Netflix. When accounting streams on Netflix and Peacock (which also homes another “Suits” spinoff, “Pearson”), the series reigned over the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 for several months and ultimately broke the record for the most-ever No. 1 appearances on Nielsen’s chart.

Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, Rick Hoffman, Meghan Markle, Gina Torres (who led the short-lived “Pearson” spinoff), and Sarah Rafferty, among others, starred in the flagship series. 

Korsh serves as writer and executive producer alongside David Bartis and Dog Liman for Hypnotic, and Gene Klein. Victoria Mahoney is attached to direct. UCP, which produced the original show, is the studio.

Davis has previously starred in series such as “Training Day”, “Rebel”, and “Florida Man”. She is also known for her work in movies like Lifetime’s “Unbreak My Heart” — in which she played Toni Braxton — as well as “Superfly”, and “Son of the South.”
