The BRICS International Student Film Festival, held at the Academy of Arts in Cairo, witnessed remarkable participation from student filmmakers who presented their cinematic works amid strong interaction from audiences and critics, in an atmosphere marked by open cinematic dialogue and enthusiastic discussions following each screening.

The screenings were held across three halls at the academy under the patronage of Nabila Hassan, who stressed that art represents one of the strongest means of communication and expression of reality, with a genuine ability to inspire change and promote mutual understanding among peoples. She noted that the festival goes beyond being merely a platform for visual creativity, reflecting the power of art as an honest transmitter of reality and a bridge connecting human emotions across cultures.

For her part, Mona El-Sabban, the festival president, stated that the festival received 135 films from BRICS countries, including 76 Egyptian films, 18 Russian films, 13 Chinese films, and 12 Indian films, in addition to entries from Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, and South Africa. She emphasized that this wide participation reflects the growing presence of young talents and highlights the diversity and richness of student cinema.

Meanwhile, Sherif Ged pointed out that the Russian participation included 18 films by students from the State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow, featuring outstanding works in short fiction, documentary, and animation filmmaking that showcased impressive young cinematic talent.

The festival screenings were organized under the supervision of الدكتور Ahmed El-Qassas, together with the festival’s executive and technical team, who worked to ensure the event reflected the importance of supporting student cinema and strengthening cultural exchange among BRICS nations
