The cast also includes Billy Magnussen as Rey "The King" Kingston with D.J. Cotrona and Fabiola Andujar in undisclosed roles.
Racer Max co-wrote the movie which also stars Billy Magnussen, Everly Carganilla, and DJ Cotrona.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger produced for Skydance, while Elizabeth Avellan and Max also produced. Spyglass’ Gary Barber and Peter Oillataguerre executive produced.
The installment was first announced in January 2021 as a collaboration between Rodriguez, Skydance Media, and Spyglass Media Group with Netflix boarding the project in March 2022.
Rodriguez, who co-wrote Armageddon with his son Racer Rodriguez, recently shared how much it meant for him to work on this movie with his family knowing how many families around the world have bonded over their shared love of Spy Kids.
"I’ve heard from so many families telling me how much they’ve enjoyed these films over the course of their lives. And now a lot of kids who enjoyed the first films as children are parents themselves and enjoy sharing them with their kids," Rodriguez said in a statement shared by Netflix.
"The Spy Kids franchise was based on my growing up in a family of ten kids with an FBI special agent Uncle. It's been very exciting for me and my kids to work on this film together as a family, for other families to enjoy."
"Spy Kids: Armageddon" premieres on Netflix on September 22.
